Transitional Housing
Every client has an individual treatment plan based on their unique needs. The
treatment plans are developed with the counselor and are updated every 30, 60, and 90
days. The treatment plan focuses on attaining individual outcomes. Treatment is
presented in a continuum of services. The individual treatment plans are based on each
client’s current needs. Progress is based on program participation and length of time in
the program at each level. Services include:
• Housing – Transitional housing services for 65 men
• Substance Abuse Treatment - All residents must participate in a recovery program
that includes group counseling, community groups, individual counseling, case
management, and community service.
• Mental Health Services- On-site psychologist, psychiatric nurse, medication
management, and mental health services.
• Medical Assessment & Education – On site health assessment by nurse, health
literacy education groups.
• Case Management - Depending on the unique needs of each resident. Services
include: employment counseling, independent living skills, recreation activities, legal
advocacy and referrals transportation, spirituality, financial counseling, family counseling,
and referrals to community self help groups
To be considered successful, clients must achieve all three Benilde Hall outcomes including:
• Residents will maintain abstinent from drugs & alcohol
• Residents obtain and remain in permanent housing
• Residents will increase work skills and income
Benilde Hall provided services to 319 men in 2012. Upon discharge-
· 78% were abstinent
· 88% had improved mental health
· 63% had increased income
· 86% increased social skills
· 79% had stable housing
To be successfully discharged clients must be abstinent, have improved income, move to
stable housing and if they have a mental illness, they must have improved mental health. In
2012 Sixty percent successfully discharged the program.
Benilde Hall provided 9,281.5 units of relapse prevention groups, 7,311 units of DBT group
counseling, 1,471 units of health literacy counseling, 339 units of HIV group counseling,
917.75 units of case management, 6,945 units of community service, 3,519.75 units of
individual substance abuse counseling, 506.5 units of psychotherapy, and 146 units of
psychiatric services.
